I love touring Paris – the Ninth Arrondissement
The ninth district is located on the right bank of the Seine. Its surface is slightly greater than 0.8 square miles (about 2.2 square kilometers). Although its population is about fifty-five mile area is home to over one hundred and ten miles jobs and business center of Paris.
The Paris Olympia is the oldest hotel in the music and one of the most famous in the world. It also hosted the circus and ballet. When business was slow, it took a long pass as a movie theater. And in the 1990s, it was almost transformed into a parking lot. Olympia Famous artists include Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, and Jeff Buckley, and only some of them.
A Another kind of music hall Folies Bergere northeast of Olympia was built in the nineteenth century to the middle like an opera with the name of Foolish Treviso. But to protect his reputation, the Duke of Treviso has changed its name shortly after. His famous performers, including singer-dancer Josephine Baker, wearing a skirt made of bananas and Maurice Chevalier, but nobody remembers what he wore.
The neo-baroque Palais Garnier, generally called the Paris Opera (Paris Opera) 2200 seat opera lovers. Its stadium can hold up to 450 artists. Even if you do not the opera, you should visit this wonderful building with its statues and busts of famous composers. Construction began in 1862 but has was completed in 1875. The building sits on a former swamp on an underground lake. It took eight months just to pump away water. In 1896, a weight-cons of his six-ton chandelier fell magnificent kill someone. This opera house is the source of inspiration for the French novel The Phantom of the Opera and the musical of the same name, the oldest and most lucrative in the history of Broadway. The new Opera de Paris, known known as the Opera Bastille is the other, less affluent side of town. It was supposed to replace the old, but it has not.
Galeries Lafayette department store is a 10-story from the beginning of last century. You may want to look at the building, its Fine Art Nouveau staircase, and his goods, even if you really do not want to buy anything. It is the flagship store of a chain International. One branch even opened in Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, but have ceased their activities. What do you bet that someone got fired?
The competitor (Spring) Spring flagship store can be found just down the street from Galeries Lafayette. It is also part of a international chain, and its U.S. arm that in Denver, Colorado, instead of Manhattan also went bankrupt after only sixteen months and the building is now used as a center of medical tests. The historic Parisian store was founded in 1865. The building is known for Art Deco dome stained glass was removed in 1939 for obvious reasons. The cupola was restored in 1973 by the little son of the designer using the original plans. FA building? e and the dome are registered as national monuments.
Pigalle is centered around the Place Pigalle, on the edge of the ninth and the boroughs eighteenth. To a large extent it is a neighborhood hot with some famous nightclubs, including the Moulin Rouge, which sports an imitation windmill red on its roof. The decoration of construction this turn-of-century (no, not 1999-2000) look. This club has inspired a film of 1952 and 2001 who were both appointed Oscar for best film. The area attracts world-renowned artists including Toulouse-Lautrec, Picasso and van Gogh. The area south of Place Pigalle is a center of the instrument of popular music business.
Of course, you do not want to be in Paris without sampling end of French wine and Food. In my article I Love French Wine and Food – An Alsace Pinot Blanc I reviewed such a wine and suggested a sample menu: Start with Foie Gras (goose or duck). For your second course savor Baeckeoffe (meat and potato casserole). And for dessert indulge yourself with Cake Shop (Almond Cake with Raspberry and meringue). Your Parisian sommelier (wine steward) will be happy to suggest appropriate wines to accompany each dish.
